James Karwita, one of the award recipients and the achievement for the Award for Best Consultant in Business Performance category, has actually liked IT since elementary school.
At that time James had the opportunity to take a computer class from the government. “When I was in grade 6 of Elementary School, I had the opportunity to take computer classes. There I began to learn about how to repair computers such as reinstalling, cleaning the hard drive, "said James.
James interest continued when he was in high school. At that time, he started his hobby of installing anti-virus on his computer. James also continued to college by majoring in Information Systems at Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta.
When carrying out an internship program from campus, James admitted to submitting CVs to all companies in the hope of being accepted by one of these companies. "Of all the CVs that were sent, it turned out that ED-SEN Consulting's HRD was the first to call me for an interview, so I have chosen ED-SEN Consulting as the place for internships," said James.
During his internship, James began working on a project at ED-SEN Consulting. He said the first project he was working on was a planning budgeting platform at a multi-finance company in Indonesia. James admitted that he was happy to be able to work on his first project because it was an opportunity for him to explore his abilities. “My first project could explore a lot of things, but the downside was that there was no supervision, so I made a mistake. But so that I can learn from this mistake. "Said James.
James's acquaintance with Anaplan occurred when James helped the Anaplan team work on the Anaplan project in a brand communications service provider. When I saw Anaplan, I didn't understand it at all because it was different from the platform I had worked on before.
In the next project, James worked on another Anaplan project at a leading telecommunication company in Indonesia. While working on this project, James began to understand Anaplan thanks to direct guidance from the Anaplan team.
The Anaplan project at a multi-finance company in Indonesia was the first project for James to work on Anaplan with the Project team. James said working on the Anaplan project at the company started from scratch. "In the past, the Anaplan team designed the telecommunication company, but in this project, we made our own designs." Said James. He added that the Anaplan project in a multi-finance company was Anaplan's first project undertaken by the ED-SEN Consulting team.
James admitted that the challenge of working on the Anaplan project at the beginning was rather difficult because there was no supervision yet to monitor the project work. However, according to James, there is a positive side, namely, he has received a lot of knowledge from clients and from the Anaplan team. "From the Anaplan team, I learned how they run projects," said James.
According to James, the Project Manager (PM) was very helpful in making the Anaplan project tidy. He also learned a lot from the PM which made the work more organized in terms of the work process and the timeline.
For the difficulty level, working on this Anaplan project is almost non-existent. It's just that, for now, James admits that it is difficult to manage several of Anaplan's ongoing projects. James and his team are currently working on 4 Anaplan projects in several major companies in Indonesia.
For the Work team, James felt that the team he currently had was very solid in working on these 4 projects. If there are problems in the team, they are usually discussed together while looking for solutions to problems faced in the project.
From the client side, back then we had no experience when it was rather difficult to manage clients. So, if the client asks for a revision, the project team always works on it. But now, we can get better at managing clients. We also see the capacity of the team to what extent we can handle the wishes of the client in the project.
Talking about the timeline, previously the project timeline was always packed with time. However, currently there is a PM involved to calculate how long the timeline will be. "Now, the timeline is quite long," said James. During the Pandemic, James also admitted that he had no influence when he had to do Work from Home because for him since 2018, he has been working on projects at home. James said that when I worked on a project at a manufacturing company, I worked on it from home and had no problems with the Anaplan team and clients. "Once a week we have a meeting to report on how the project is progressing," said James.
James said, when he had to Work from Office, usually James would use the opportunity to coordinate with clients. so, if there are problems, you can discuss it on the spot. "With the team, usually when the project schedule is tight, we will meet in Depok because it will be faster in processing. However, if the schedule is not busy, we can do it from home,” said James.
In the future, James hopes to increase the number of learning platforms other than Anaplan. "In the future, I plan to learn about platforms other than Anaplan so that my knowledge will be broader about other platforms," said James.
